Close, and Closer…

I’ve always wondered about keeping your friends close and your enemies closer.

I mean I’ve always found it to be true…that those closest to me are the ones who hurt me the most.

It’s in Micah. (7:6)

I’m going to put the next verse in my words…he says let me alone in my darkness, GOD will give me light. To me it means leave me alone, all my comfort and love comes from GOD. People, even with good intentions, will hurt me…and I’m sure I hurt people without wanting to.

Notice how the toughest battles always start within…they always start close to home. They start with us and those closest to us.

Matthew 10:34 “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.” KJV

JESUS goes on to say that HE has come to set a house against each other because anyone who loves someone else above HIM is not HIS.

You know, that peace that everyone speaks of in the Bible, it’s not that you have peace on earth…No, it’s far greater to have peace everlasting.

And I found it interesting that HE says HE isn’t here to spread peace. HE came calling HIS children to separate themselves from the world and follow HIM body and soul.

GOD is jealous.

All throughout the Old Testament HE destroys everyone and everything who worships something else. HE demands love and loyalty.

HE says in the New Testament to ‘cast all your cares on HIM’…what are our cares? Are they not what we hold dear?

Our care should be for HIM above everything else. HE should have all our love and loyalty.

We can’t do that on our own. We are human and fail miserably.

We hold onto traditions but know not the meaning behind them.

We do things we call ‘worship’, but our hearts are far removed.

We search for answers but don’t ask the right questions.

Life really is simple.

Seek…ask…knock…(Matthew 7:7-8)

Matthew 6:33 says to seek first the kingdom of GOD.

Solomon asked for wisdom to know all things and found it vain. He found everything to be vanity and vexation of spirit. But the criminal on the cross next to the SAVIOR asked to be remembered and it was so. We must ask for the right thing.

CHRIST is the door; we must knock at HIS command and ask to be remembered…yet to find the door, we must seek with all our soul and hope HE shines HIS light, directing us. HE says that all are born in darkness and without HIS light, none are saved.

HE gives the eyes to see and the ears to hear. HE reveals HIMSELF to whom HE pleases. Not everyone can see HIM and some who do still have unbelief.

As I said, life is simple: we must, if we could be blessed, put GOD first and live our lives doing everything we can to not let anything come between us.

And getting back to keeping your enemies closer, it was one of the twelve who betrayed JESUS.

Our flesh messes up…we can do nothing without GOD…for on our own, we are the dead burying the dead. We won’t lay aside our earthly possessions in order to gain that which is eternal.

By the way, I am the worst of all. Many are called, but few are chosen…

if only I could be chosen…
