“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” James 2:10 KJV
What a fearful thought!
This is the reason I do not like confrontation: I am guilty of part, therefore I am guilty of all.
Do you ever stop and think about what you might put ahead of the Lord?
We claim to seek Him first, but do we?
How many times have we not gone to worship service because of something else that came up?
Think about it this way: Jesus met a young man who asked to follow Him but he needed to bury his dad first. Jesus answered, let the dead bury the dead.
To truly live is to live in Christ, forsaking ALL and following Him.
We can’t do that on our own. We try to plan for our future but we’re not promised tomorrow. We obsess over social media, news, celebrities, clothes, cars, anything and everything new or repurposed. Those obsessions are dangerous.
See, that first commandment God gave the Children of Israel, we can’t even keep it. “Thou shalt have no other gods before me”. Anything we focus on can become a god to us. If it takes our minds and hearts away for the Lord, then it is an abomination and we’d be better off putting it aside.
Some of those commandments seem to be pretty easy to keep…but when we start to really look at them, we might not be as “good” as we think.
And I will be the first to admit that I am guilty of all.
Ouch!
