Every now and then, I have a “thought for the day” that I write and share with a few close friends. Today the thought was from Colossians.
I want to share what I wrote for today, but first tell a little story. Like other parents out there, I try so hard to keep up with everything going on in my kids’ lives, keep up with housework and my job… There’s a never ending list of things that must be done, have to be done and should be done, but everything doesn’t always get done as I plan.
I dropped the ball on something that I didn’t think was too important…and to me it is and it isn’t, but to one of my children, it was huge. I didn’t realize how much this thing mattered. So, getting down to the wire, I tried to make amends and correct my oversight. I didn’t receive any response, so I decided it was just another of my failures.
A few minutes later, after the final call, when everyone was accounted for, a miracle happened. I couldn’t believe it, but in walked two people I never expected to see today but it made my heart happy and my child’s eyes filled with tears of joy.

Gratitude. I cannot but wonder at the glory of God, His mercy and grace. How perfect and wonderful He is. I am so thankful, my heart so full. The Lord made the impossible possible; nothing is too difficult for Him.
My thought for this morning:
“for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: and he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” Colossians 1:16-17 KJV
This reminds me of Jeremiah when the Lord asked if there was anything too hard for Him…He created all things, even the things we cannot see, the things that people have tried for centuries to understand, GOD made everything and HE KNOWS IT ALL. Here we are struggling to fathom a drop and He made the drop. He has made everything, great and small. There is nothing that happens without His knowledge. Nothing escapes Him.
Without Him, nothing is.
How great is our God?! How marvelous He is!
