Why do we fight against
The pull of our heart?
We use the argument
Flawed from the start.
We argue logic and reason.
We cite facts and opinions.
We are so full of passion
We are sure of our decisions.
But we lose our focus
On what really matters
We zero in on ‘us’
Forgetting the Creator.
We say we follow
And wait on Him
Our words are hollow
Our light is dim.
If we seek Him first,
And not our own desires,
We wouldn’t be cursed
And known as liars.
Because we are liars.
We are hypocrites for sure.
Warmed by the fires
With Peter we stood.
We deny our Lord,
We fight against Him.
Every single word
Just another sin.
Lord, write on my heart,
Bind it to my flesh,
Keep me in YOUR arms
Humble and submissive.
Throughout the Bible, there are examples of how the called of God fought against His will. They initially denied His call, choosing to go their own way. But after their ways failed, they yielded to the Lord. Why do we fight? Why do we struggle. There is but one measure of success: obtaining the reward of Salvation through Jesus Christ. That is the only goal worth fighting for.
