As a Last Resort

“Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: Forget not the humble.” ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭10‬:‭12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

You know, we often think of prayer as a last resort. “Has it come to that” [where prayer is the only thing left to do.]

But why do we wait to pray? When prayer is the answer?

What more do we need than to rely on God?

Approach everything with prayer and fasting.

Did not the Apostles ask Jesus why certain devils they could not cast out…? HE replied that those kinds only respond to fasting and prayer.

Following the example of Christ is fasting and praying, humility and service.

We often ask “why me?” But “why not me?” “What makes me better or worse than another?”

Perhaps it is our faith that isn’t tested, but proved and not for us but for those around us.

Job wasn’t tried for himself, but for his neighbors and for us, that we might see his example. He had the faith already, but because of his story, we have a guide. He approached everything with prayer, and he reaped the rewards in God’s time.

A day is a thousand years and a thousand years is a day. We are a vapor in time, but we don’t see it when we’re in the middle of it. We see the trial, not the end.

Prayer is the answer for discernment.

Prayer is the ultimate weapon in this war against the devil.

Elisha was surrounded by armies of angels but his servant couldn’t see until his eyes were open by prayer. Prayer calls those angels to us.

Sometimes, we just need to pray. We are commanded to pray without ceasing, but we often neglect that part.

We can’t do anything on our own, it is only through the power and grace of God that we can move.

So prayer is vital to life in every aspect. The Lord does not forget us; we forget Him.

Prayer shouldn’t be used as our last resort; it should be our starting point.
