New wine…we ask God to make us new wine; a new life with new meaning, part of His vine, a branch to bring forth new fruit.
Oh, but at the pain we face when being made into new wine.
We must be crushed in the press.
Left to ferment, uncared for by natural eyes.
We rot from the pressure.
Left in the cool darkness…
The change begins on the outside with the external forces breaking us down.
Until the change becomes internal.
After the decaying is over, the new purpose begins, new life begins.
So, when we ask God for a new purpose, we mustn’t complain about the pressure, the pain, and the feelings of being abandoned. God is working a change in us; He doesn’t leave us, but we must allow the process to be fulfilled.
We must be completely broken down in order to become something new.
And you don’t put new wine in an old bottle. He makes us completely new, inside and out. As evident in our new walk and talk.
Trust the process.
I like to say “trust the madness” because sometimes it takes a little bit that sounds crazy for something wonderful to happen.
The Lord works in the storm; He doesn’t take a back seat and let things fall where they may; He ORCHESTRATES everything. No leaf lands where He doesn’t set it. Think on that.
All this pain and suffering in life is meant to prepare us for His glory. If you want to be new wine for God, then accept the preparations because being a soldier in His army isn’t without battles. Now He is our shield, but we will be constantly in battle, constantly being crushed and molded into someone fit to wear a new robe and crown. He never said this life was easy; He said we wouldn’t be alone.
