“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:” Amos 8:11 (KJV)
Lord, bring the Gospel Rain to shower on Your children and quench their thirst. Let Your Bread fall on our ears and feed the weary pilgrims traveling through this world of sin and suffering.
We have shut our eyes and ears to hear the Lord. Wasn’t it Elijah who listened for His voice and though the mountains were rent and the earth quaked, the still small voice sounded and Elijah knew it was indeed God speaking? How can it be that he knew to listen for the calm amidst the chaos to hear the Lord? Because Elijah’s ears were opened to His voice. This world is full of destruction but the Lord is the Breath of Life.
Think of how many descriptive words there are of the Lord that pertain to Life and sustaining Life. He is the Living Water; those who drink, shall never thirst. He said to eat of Him and never go hungry. Without His breath in our lungs, we would not be. Without Him, we are nothing.
In the chaos, listen for the calm. The Lord is in the midst of the storm if only we could be blessed to hear Him.
