We say that God is the sun; we equate His glory to the light of the sun. But God created the sun. He is Lord over the sun. We don’t worship the creation, we worship the Creator.
And that’s the problem: we sit here and put things like the beach, the mountains, the sunrise…all this stuff that we look for and look at and we miss the point. God created everything we see and enjoy. The sky, for me, is something I look at when I need a reminder that I am not alone. But do I elevate the sky above my Creator? Oh, I hope not and I shudder to think that I would!!
I was reading in Ezekiel and in a vision, Ezekiel saw the glory of the Lord fill the sanctuary and he fell down on his face because he was in the presence of the Lord. The glory of God is so much more than the sun! There is nothing to compare Him to what He creates!
Why do we belittle Him? Why can’t we understand that God is so much mightier and wonderful than we can try to imagine?
